  • Painted in layered watercolor with ink accents, this piece celebrates the handmade precision of the double reed. By focusing on the tools of the craft, this artwork honors the patience and dedication required before a single note is even played. Thanks especially to Rhonda who sent me this beautiful photo of her reeds.

Created on 300lb hot press paper, the original measures 8″ x 8″ and includes a certificate of authenticity. Prints are produced on archival paper to ensure the vibrant purples and greens remain true for years to come. Ships unframed.

I photographed the source instrument at VMEA in 2025 because I love hunting for shiny brass at those tables. I built the color with undersea green, then I sparked it with nickel azo yellow so the pigments break and shimmer instead of behaving politely.

I drew this by hand and painted it in watercolor. The original watercolor is available. It measures approximately 8″ x 9″ on 300 lb Arches hot press paper and includes a certificate of authenticity. Prints ship unframed.
